DROUGHT APPEAL 2019
Difficult Times: A Call For Your Support
The Hunter Region is currently in one of the worst drought situations in history, with the region hardly receiving any substantial amount of rain since late 2017.
With the coast receiving a lot of rain, it can be easy to forget that as you move inland the rain just isn't there.
This drought has now affected New Gokula substantially from once being a self-sufficient community with its own water resources and growing most of its produce to reach outwards for these basic needs. As a result, there is minimal grass growing leading to hungry cows and bulls. Hay is being ordered on a regular basis for cow feed but due to the huge demand for hay, these prices have also risen considerably.
In recent times, huge investments have been made to address the food needs of our herd as well as for sourcing water from the creek, which also is quite low.
While we do ask that you pray for us to receive much rain, we also request that you help us financially to help us continue our Vedic dharma (duty) of cow protection, which is the main purpose of New Gokula.
