New Gokula farm was originally purchased in 1988 as an opportunity to expand on the Colo River farm initiative which had problems due to the ongoing flooding of Colo river.
Cowherding has been central to the conception of community from the outset, with the herd transferred from Colo under the supervision of Mandana prabhu, who had carefully selected good breed jerseys to create the herd. Later Ananta Sesha prabhu and family cared for the cows and managed the 500 acre property developing important infrastructure including dams and underground irrigation.
The herd presently has 35 cows and 20 bullocks. An average of 4-5 cows are lactating supplying temple milk needs and some extra products for consumption. Also 4 of our younger bulls are receiving regular training. With the further establishment of living facilities, and more devotees, it will be possible to increase the herd size along with an increase in the miracle food, milk, and the various products, such as paneer, yoghurt and ghee, as well as medicinal products, made using the cow urine (mutra) and cow dung (goba).
We humbly request you to consider adopting one of Krsna's cows or bulls under our cow sponsorship program. Your kind donation will be used to supply all necessities for these wonderful 4-legged devotees, whose service is so much appreciated by the Supreme Lord Sri Krsna Himself. |
